Ag Business Technician-Crop Science
1YR - Certificate (One Year)

The one-year Agriculture Business Technician Certificate prepares students to enter or advance in the agricultural field as a customer service/sales representative, field technician, or field scout with a focus on the crop and seed industry. This certificate is designed for students wishing to directly enter the workforce. It is not designed to transfer to a four year institution, although some courses are transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required to obtain the certificate.

Agriculture Business
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Ag Business prepares students for a wide variety of careers in Ag Business Management, including managing a farm or ranch, employment in the retail food production, producing fertilizer, or farm equipment sales. The program combines theory with the practical skills required for daily agriculture management operations and other agriculture related supply and service businesses. The degree is not designed to transfer to a four-year institution, although some courses are transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is needed to graduate.

Agriculture Machine Technology
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

Agriculture Machine Technology provides experience and exploratory opportunities to specialize in the field of agricultural machinery. Hands on application of workplace safety, maintenance, agriculture machinery, equipment innovations, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and irrigation systems will prepare students to service, maintain, or troubleshoot a variety of agricultural machinery. Students will complete a capstone linking theory with real world application to exemplify the depth of knowledge and skills attained throughout the program.

Agriculture Mechanic
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

This CPCC allows a student to obtain the basics in workplace safety, maintenance, agriculture machinery, equipment innovations, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and irrigation systems. This CPCC will prepare students to service, maintain or troubleshoot a variety of agricultural machinery and is designed as a step-out point for students to acquire skills needed for employment in the agricultural machine field.

CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

This CPCC will provide experience and exploratory opportunities to specialize in training and selling horses. Hands on application of work place safety, horse stall maintenance, horse health and welfare, halter training, colt starting and performance horse training.

Conservation Technician
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

This Career Pathway Certificate of Completion prepares students for entry and seasonal level employment with public and private agencies in the area of conservation for both plant and wildlife.

Cowboy, Pen Rider & Ranch Horse Sales
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

This CPCC is designed for students who own horses and want to get out of the hobby horse category. This CPCC will provide opportunities for a part-time or full-time business in training horses, selling horses, giving lessons, boarding, or working on a ranch or feedlot.

Crop Science Non-Transfer
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

Students learn techniques to improve production, planting, harvesting and sustainable farming techniques. Will provide the necessary skills to manage a profitable, environmentally-sound farm, ranch or agricultural business. Graduates are qualified for employment in a variety of positions associated with agriculture, including horticultural and livestock operations, wholesale and retail management, nursery operations and environmental and agricultural education.

Crop Science Technician
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

The Crop Science Technician CPCC focuses on the chemical, physical, and biological relationships of crops and the soils nurturing them. This certificate includes instruction in the growth and behavior of agriculture crops, the development of new plant varieties, and the scientific management of soils and nutrients for maximum plant nutrition. Students learn techniques to improve production, planting, harvesting and sustainable farming techniques.

The Environmental Science Degree will be housed in the Ag and Natural Resources Department. This degree will offer students that want to pursue a science-based career within the Ag and Natural Resources Industry. This degree will also effectively transfer to multiple 4 year institutions by allowing students to complete their general education courses in addition to higher level math, lab science and natural resources coursework.

Equine Business
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

The Associate of Science degree in Equine Business prepares student for a wide variety of careers in Equine Business Management including Equine Business Owner/Manager, Equine Facility Manager, Equine Riding Instructor and Equine Breeding operations. The program combines theory with practical skills required for daily equine management operations and other equine supply and service businesses.

Equine Business Mgt. Technician

Equine Science
AS - Associate of Science

This is for students interested in pursuing a degree in Animal Science with an equine emphasis with Montana State University and include all requirements for the Associate of Science degree. Students who wish to transfer are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC Advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at Montana State University.

Horse Training
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

The Horse Training Degree will provide experience and exploratory opportunities to specialize in training and selling horses to the public. Hands on application of work place safety, horse stall maintenance, horse health and welfare, halter training, colt starting and performance horse training will prepare students to house, train and sell horses to the public. This degree will equip students to get out of the hobby horse category with the IRS and into a part-time or full-time business training horses, selling horses, giving lessons, boarding, or using horses to do day work on ranches and feedlots.

Natural Resources
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

Successful completion of this degree program provides students with a broad base of skills related to a career in Natural Resources. The Natural Resources Associate of Applied Science degree program offers training in the areas of Invasive Species (Noxious Weeds); Range Management, and Forestry, as well as an introduction to GPS/GIS and Recreation and Wildlife. Successful graduates of this program may secure entry level positions as seasonal, temporary, or permanent employees for state and federal agencies, or private industry. This degree is designed for students wishing to directly enter the workforce. It is not designed for transfer to a four-year institution, although some coursework may be transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. Natural Resources-Environmental Science Technician
1YR - Certificate (One Year)

This certificate allows students to build fundamental knowledge in Natural Resources then customize their own education through three different concentrations. Students can choose from Field Mapping/Cartography and Natural Resource Conservation courses in order to create a customized program based on career goals. Successful graduates of this program may secure entry level positions as seasonal or temporary employees for state and federal agencies or private industry.

Plant Science
AS - Associate of Science

This program is housed within the Agriculture and Natural Resources department. This is an Associate of Science transfer degree designed to transfer to regional plant science, crop science, and horticulture for-year programs while providing students with the technical skills for employment in regional crop, seed, and horticulture industries.

Ranch Animal Technician
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

This Pathways Certificate will prepare the student for entry level positions in agriculture. The successful student will possess applied skills in ranch animal production and management including nutrition and reproduction.

Ranch Management
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

This program prepares students for a wide variety of careers in Ranch Management, including manager of a small ranch, ranch hand, feedlot operator, brand inspector, and artificial inseminator. The program combines theory with practical skills needed for daily cattle operations. Students will learn the foundations of farm business and animal science as well as have hands-on experience working with ranch animals. This degree is designed for students wishing to directly enter the workforce. It is not designed for transfer to a four-year institution, although some coursework may be transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. Range & Forest Technician

This Career Pathway Certificate of Completion prepares students for seasonal and entry level employment with public and private agencies as Forest or Range technicians.

Soil Science
AS - Associate of Science

This is an Associate of Science degree designed to transfer on to a 4-year College or University. Please work with TVCC advisors and transfer university advisors to select elective courses that best fit your transfer institution. Wildland Fire Management
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

This program prepares students for positions on fire crews including crew boss or member of the heli-tech team, with the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, or other public and private agencies that manage firefighting on public lands. - - This degree is designed for students wishing to directly enter the workforce. It is not designed for transfer to a four-year institution, although some coursework may be transferable. Students who wish to transfer coursework are strongly encouraged to work closely with their TVCC advisor to develop a transfer plan and to identify and contact an advisor at their chosen transfer institution. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is needed to graduate with a degree.

Wildland Fire Management-Wildland Fire
1YR - Certificate (One Year)

The Wildland Fire certificate prepares students for entry level seasonal jobs in fire-fighting for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service, and other public and private agencies that manage firefighting on public lands. During summer quarter students can incorporate required NATR 280 (Cooperative Work Experience) with the work they are doing in the field. Students should make appropriate arrangements with their program advisor. All courses in this certificate may be transferred into the Natural Resources Wildland Fire Associate of Applied Science Degree. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required to obtain the certificate.

Wildland Fire Technician

The Wildland Firefighter Technician Career Pathway Certificate of Completion prepares students for seasonal or entry level employment with public and private agencies as fire crew members.
