Our Health Professions is designed to provide you with a wide range of training and educational opportunities for individuals getting started in a health career, furthering their careers, or working to meet licensure/certification requirements. Our goal is to prepare students for an exciting career in the health field by offering degrees and certificates in highly sought after areas.

RN Nursing Program

Treasure Valley Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

Successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing (AAS) prepares TVCC graduates for the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), and a successful career as a healthcare professional.

Nurse Aide Program

TVCC offers Nursing Assistant Courses throughout the year.  This is a 155-hour course which includes clinical experience at local healthcare agencies and a CPR class.

Upon successful completion of the 155 hours OBSN approved Nursing Aide Course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.  This certificate will enable you to take the OSBN state test. When this exam is passed, you will be issued the designation of a "Certified Nurse Aide". 

Medical Assistant Program

Medical assisting is on the nation's fastest growing careers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Medical assistants perform both administrative and clinical duties

Successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science degree as a Medical Assistant prepares a student for a career as a Certified Medical Assistant and for an occupation in administrative functions in healthcare clinics, health care front office and physician offices.

Physical Education and Health

Although TVCC does not offer a degree in physical education, physical education courses are lower division collegiate courses which transfer to a four-year college or university. Physical education courses may transfer as: Elective credits, Program requirement credits, and/or graduation requirements.

Students are always encouraged to check with the receiving institution and your TVCC academic advisor when hoping to transfer PE credits.

Degrees & Certificates

Medical Assistant
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

This is a two year program, designed to allow a student to become a Certified Medical Assistant in year one and then continue on to obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree. This program is designed to ensure a graduate can work both the front office and the back office of a medical office.

Medical Assistant
1YR - Certificate (One Year)

This is a one-year State certificate that allows a student to become a Certified Medical Assistant in Oregon.

Medical Office Assistant
CERT - Career Pathways Certificate

The Medical Office Assistant is a career pathway certificate or completion program which provides students with entry level skills for an administrative medical office support position. Administrative duties may include; scheduling and receiving patients; maintaining medical records; handling telephone calls; correspondence and reports; insurance matters; office accounts; fees and collections.

Nursing (RN)
AAS - Associate of Applied Science

TVCC is a member of the Oregon Consortium Nursing Education(OCNE), which allows TVCC nursing students the option of completing a Bachelor's degree in Nursing at Oregon Health Science University after successfully completing two years in the TVCC Nursing Program. Acceptance into the nursing program, allows for co-admission to TVCC and OHSU School of Nursing. The OCNE Curriculum is designed as a four-year course of study. The first year is devoted to completing pre-admissions requisites and/or preprogram courses (45 cr total with a minimum of 37 cr) required for admission to the restricted nursing program at TVCC. The 2nd & 3rd year of study is comprised of six terms, allowing students to complete the Associate of Applied Science and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam. Licensure is granted through the Oregon State Board of Nursing. After licensure, students can continue to the OHSU RN-BS program. Students may also elect to forgo licensure and continue their 4th year in OHSU leading to a Bachelor's of Science Degree (BS,N) from OHSU and at that point eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination. The AAS Nursing Programs is approved by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, Oregon State Department of Education. TVCC is regionally accredited by Northwest Regional Accreditation Association for Higher Education. TVCC Nursing Program has national accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Pre-Nursing
AAOT - Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer
