The Art Department offers lower division courses leading to an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in art and offers courses which will transfer to a baccalaureate program at a four-year institution. It also provides professional training courses and programs designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the fields of photography, electronic layout and design, drawing and ceramics. In addition the department is responsive to the community's desires and need for lifelong learning opportunities in the discipline.

Community Ed's 

Intro to Painting and Drawing

This community ed course is offered Fall, Winter and Spring terms. Taught by Sandy Micheli, a student will be able to learn or sharpen drawing and painting skills working at a comfortable pace. This course (0-cr.) is offered Friday afternoons 1:00-4:30 pm. Adults: $99.00 per term, Seniors: $60.00 per term. For more info call 541-881-5960.

Ceramics

The TVCC Fine and Performing Arts department has one of the finest ceramics studios in the nation. Students taking ceramics courses are exposed to the fundamentals in creating basic forms. Ceramics courses at TVCC are great for students of any discipline, and excellent for those who want to pursue further studies in the ceramic arts

Photography

Students taking photography courses at TVCC have a rare tool available to them in a hands-on, traditional dark room. Students will learn techniques utilized by the greatest masters of photography such as Edward Weston and Ansel Adams The darkroom forms a basis for digital photography and Photoshop manipulation in the digital darkroom. Students learn everything from loading film into a camera to creating enlarged prints of their work. Students in the digital photography classes learn the basics of digital photo manipulation in Adobe Photoshop. All photography classes take occasional field trips to local areas to practice techniques learned in the classroom.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts classes in the TVCC Fine and Performing Arts department form the foundation for all methods of visual arts. Studying the history of art, the basics of design, and beginning to advanced drawing, visual arts classes at TVCC help students understand basic principles that apply across all disciplines in the visual arts.
