TVCC Celebrates Women's History Month

The TVCC Equity Committee is hosting an exciting project on Wednesday, March 20 at 6:00 pm in the Science Center.

In collaboration with Border Town Comic Con, the TVCC Equity Project presents a special guest panel featuring Rosemary Valero-O’Connell (Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me) and Madeline McGrane (Dirt Creek Runs Red with Blood, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl). Having studied together at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, they have become rising stars within the comics industry. In this conversation, these two artists will discuss exploring LGBTQ+ narratives, drawing on diverse influences, and creating comics. A drawing demonstration and short Q+A will follow the presentation. You can find the Facebook event here at:

These two are working on some exciting projects! Rosemary’s upcoming comic with Mariko Tamaki, Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, has been steadily climbing up the charts in anticipation of its release and has already received a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly. Madeline has just signed with a major publisher on a children’s comic and will be launching a webseries soon with a major content website.

Student Activities will be providing snacks for all who attend. For any student looking for extra credit, there will be a sign-up sheet there.

If you miss the panel on Wednesday, the two will also be on two TBA panels at Bordertown Comic Con as TVCC Equity Committee representatives on March 23 and March 24.
