TVCC names new men's basketball coach

After six seasons as the head coach for Treasure Valley Community College’s men’s basketball program, Head Coach Ryan Zimmerman is stepping down. Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Stegner has been named interim head coach for the upcoming season. Stegner, who has worked with the men’s team for the past four years, will be assisted by Alex Campbell and Gary Mellinger.

“I appreciate the opportunity that I have been given to coach at the collegiate level. I will forever cherish the relationships that were cultivated over the past 6 ½ years with my players and fellow coaches. My time on the court working alongside them will be missed,” Zimmerman said. “I am excited about, and looking forward, to my future endeavors, helping support my family and spending more time with my family.”

Coach Ryan Zimmerman’s accomplishments include the following:

·         86-80 overall record

·         NWAC East Region champions 2013-2014 season

·         NWAC East Region coach of the year honor

·         2 NWAC Championship tournament appearances – both resulting in TVCC as Consolation champions

“I would like to thank coach Zimmerman for his hard work on and off the court at TVCC,” said TVCC Director of Athletics Ed Aronson. “Not only did coach Zimmerman work hard on the floor, and was the only basketball coach to win a conference championship, but Coach Zim took a lot of pride in making sure his student athletes gave it their best in the classroom,” Aronson added.

Stegner and his assistant will take the helm immediately and continue practices and preparation for the upcoming season.
