TVCC prepares for accreditation visit Nov. 7-9

It’s not unusual for students at the Treasure Valley Community College to be evaluated in their classes, but TVCC itself will soon be reviewed as an accreditation committee takes stock of the College.

Community colleges in the Northwest Region are reviewed every seven years by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. To that end, faculty and administrators from other community colleges will tour the campus Nov. 7-9 and question students, faculty, staff, administrators and board members about the College’s mission and programs.

“We’re looking forward to showing off the good work of the college,” said TVCC President Dana Young.

The entire campus is invited to an opening breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in Weese Room 110 on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The TVCC Board of Education will meet with the evaluation team later that morning at 10 a.m. in a public meeting. The review is set to end on Friday with an exit meeting scheduled for 10 a.m.

TVCC will heard initial reports at that meeting but the final review will not be completed until January when the reviewers present their report the full Commission in Seattle.

The accreditation review process has been led by TVCC's Accreditation Liaison David Koehler, who also serves as the CTE Dean. For more information about the process or the schedule of meetings, please contact David Koehler at
