COVID-19 Update

March 24, 2020

We hope this update finds everyone well. Hopefully, working at home is free of complications and running smoothly. Again, if you have technology needs, please contact IT by submitting a Help Ticket here. A Help Ticket ensures requests are prioritized and documented.

Residence Hall: Students who live in the Residence Hall are being contacted by our Residence Hall staff individually this week. We are reaching out to ensure they know what options are available for returning to campus if they need to be here. Since all classes will be offered online, we are working with students to make every effort to accommodate their individual needs.

Travel: An employee asked whether letters for safe travel through Oregon were needed. They are not! The Executive Order that was signed yesterday allows travel for work and a variety of other reasons. Yesterday, after reviewing the order, the Administrative Team felt a letter was not needed. Both Malheur County and City of Ontario were contacted for input as well. Neither the Sheriff’s Office nor the Ontario Police are stopping motorists to inquire into the purpose of travel. Read the Executive Order here.

Supervisors: As we move forward, please remember the goal is to get people OFF campus. If the employee can work off campus, then that is where they should be working. If they cannot, you must determine if the on-campus work is a critical function. A critical function is:

  • Functions that ensure the continuity and security of institutional operations.
  • Functions that ensure the continuity of building functions and security.
  • Workers and Educators supporting the facilitating of distance learning.

Students: Please be sure to check Canvas for updates from your instructors. Also, please test your Zoom capabilities before the first day of classes. We are planning to host a Zoom meeting on Thursday and Friday so students can take a test run of their technology. We will send an email out to students tomorrow.

Campus Buildings: We are OPEN but are limiting public access to campus buildings. Click here to find the most updated information
