Trombone legend to perform at TVCC

Legendary Jazz Trombonist Bill Watrous will be present master classes for trombone and jazz improvisation at TVCC on Dec. 16. Local high school students are invited to attend this exclusive event. The classes will also include rehearsal clinics featuring the Fruitland High School Jazz Band, the Ontario High School Jazz Band, and TVCC's own Prime Time Big Band. 

Watrous is one of the preeminent trombonists working in the field of jazz today. He has performed with jazz legends including Woody Herman, Roy Eldridge and Count Basie. Throughout his career, he has also been a guest soloist on many albums by other prominent jazz musicians including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Arturo Sandoval. 

The day will end with a performance by the participants of the master classes and the clinics, as well as a featured performance by Bill Watrous.  The performance will start at 7 p.m. in the Meyer-McLean Theatre.
