Alcohol Awareness event
Scott Maloney will share his story in this alcohol awareness event, presented by the Tobacco Free Coalition and held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13, in the Weese Building. The same program will be presented at 3 p.m. in the Caldwell Center's Room 211.
Scott shares his story of how one night in college turned into an unimaginable nightmare that changed the course of his life forever. A typical Friday evening on campus turned into something so far from “typical for Maloney. Scott shares his experiences with students, families and communities across the country about the dangers of irresponsible drinking.
In the fall semester of his senior year, Scott was rushed to the emergency room after falling from a rooftop as a result of a decision made while intoxicated. His family was told to say goodbye, that there was no hope because Scott had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Through the miracles of modern medicine, months in the hospital, years of physical therapy and iron-clad determination, Scott recovered and is sharing his story in the hopes of making a difference with young adults.
Scott relates to students, their experiences and the peer-pressure that is so prevalent in our society. Scott has a sincere desire to share his story in hopes of helping just one person avoid the terrible tragedy that he, his family and friends endured. His story is highly impactful and will leave participants with a different perspective as they travel this emotional journey.
