The TVCC Library maintains a collection of several thousand electronic books which can be access online from anywhere through this link.
What types of eBooks are available? Our collection has been created specifically for the courses taught at TVCC and consists only of reference materials. Our collection is also current, only containing titles published in the last few years. This means that we do not have fiction books or popular books. However, we do take suggestions so if there are books you would like to see available in eBook format, please let us know.
How do I access eBooks? Once you click on the eBook link, you will be asked to login. As these titles are available only to TVCC students and staff, you will have to get the login information from the Library staff. Use the eBook or EBSCOHOST username and password to get access to the site. From there, you can search for the book or topic you are interested in.
Can I download eBooks on my Kindle, iPad, or Nook? Our eBooks are not available for download. However, you may access them from any computer or portable device, including cell phones, that has an internet connection.
Are there other digital books available? Yes. For all non-copyrighted works such as Jane Austen or Shakespeare, the Project Gutenberg site has free downloadable ebooks. There are several thousand books available here, so we highly recommend browsing this site. For mobile devices, use this link. Project Gutenberg also has a sister site which hosts free downloadable audiobooks. If you are taking a literature class here at TVCC and prefer audiobooks, this is the site for you.
For other audiobook formats, come visit us in the Library. We have books on CD, MP3 CD books, and Playaways. Haven't heard of a Playaway before? Check it out here.
