Treasure Valley Community College Caldwell, Idaho Center
New TVCC Caldwell Center construction is underway on the downtown riverfront! The new facility is planned for completion this summer with classes commencing in the fall.
In its fourth year of offering a growing range of academic classes, TVCC's Caldwell Center has grown to a Fall '06 enrollment of more than 500 students. TVCC's Caldwell Center is conveniently located in the El Mercado Building, 317 Happy Day Blvd., midway between the communities of Nampa and Caldwell, Idaho. The Office of Student Admissions, located in the courtyard area of the El Mercado Building is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, with available college placement and academic advising services. Office of Admission staff can be contacted during office hours at (208) 454-9911 or by e-mailing the Director, Kathleen Robinson, PhD at krobinson@tvcc.cc.
Current quarterly class offerings include core general education courses in Math, Science, English, History, Sociology and Art as well as Early Childhood Education, Computer Science, Business and Education. As a low-cost alternative to the first two years of a university education, many Caldwell Center students participate in a 2-year block transfer program which enables them to enroll with junior class standing at 4-year institutions in Idaho and Oregon. "We offer a high quality, lower cost option to the first two years of a four year degree," said TVCC President, Jim Sorensen. "Our academic offerings on the Caldwell Center give local Idaho students another option in reaching their educational goals."
Increasing numbers of TVCC students are also enrolled in one and two-year degree programs associated with certification in varied trades and technical careers. TVCC's courses in Automated Office Training Program, One Year Emergency Medical or Electrical Apprenticeship Program are examples of specialized training courses leading to high demand occupations in the Treasure Valley.
Fall 2006-2007 tuition fees for the diverse courses offered at the TVCC Caldwell Center are $80 per credit unit (plus $6 universal fee and $4 student fee) - an amount almost half the cost per credit at surrounding post secondary institutions in the Treasure Valley. Affordable, quality education is a key component of the school's mission to meet the educational needs of students from surrounding Idaho and Oregon communities. To further assist students with financial matters, the Caldwell Center provides on-line access to student scholarship and federal Financial Aid applications.
