Kathy worked in the journalism field for 6 years, then went on to be a medical photographer for another 6 years. After moving to Idaho in 1994, she worked as co-owner/operator of an automotive repair shop in Weiser, Idaho. Kathy was hired by Treasure Valley Community College/Northwest Center at the Snake River Correctional Institution in 1999 for the Cognitive Facilitator position. She remembers being asked in her interview why she wanted to work in a prison. Her response was that she, "just want a chance at teaching."

Kathy went on to hold several positions including ABE, GED, & ESL instructor before declaring her interest in Special Education in 2006. Kathy discovered she had a natural ability to work with this population of students. Kathy is the Special Education Instructor and has worked for TVCC/NWC for 15 years.
