Building Construction Technology Program at SRCI
The Building Construction Technology program at Snake River Correctional Institution provides a one-year State certificate from Treasure Valley Community College.
This program provides training for entry-level skills and related technical knowledge necessary for advancement in the building/construction industry. Upon satisfactory completion, students will be able to frame, drywall, build concrete forms, install roofing and siding, read blueprints, as well as many other skills demonstrating knowledge of basic construction practices. The program also emphasizes the importance of safety in the industry and provides OSHA 10 training.
Upon completion of the BCT Program, graduates are provided an opportunity to not only maintain and improve their newly developed skills, but also gain skills in cabinetry and furniture production.
Educational services are provided to the incarcerated as part of a contract between TVCC and Oregon Department of Corrections Education and Training Unit in Salem, with the goal of preventing future victims and reducing recidivism.
