Apply for TVCC Foundation Scholarship - Deadline March 15

Please read all instructions.

EACH APPLICATION IS EVALUATED AND GIVEN SCORES ON THE FOLLOWING:

  • 15 points - Overall presentation of the application: are all the attachments included, are all questions answered, (please NO staples, cover pages, or binders and make sure your name is on each sheet).
  • 5 points - Essay: presentation, were all the questions answered with thought and sincerity, was Essay typed, etc.
  • 10 points - Community and School Involvement: years committed to an activity or organization, leadership and special recognition, awards and honors that single out the applicant. (Essay Question)
  • 10 points -Financial Need: how do you plan to fund your education, have you applied for financial aid, grants or loans, will you work while attending school, are you a single parent with dependents or head of a household. (Essay Question)
  • 10 points - Educational or Career Goals: are you seeking a degree or certification, are you planning on additional schooling after TVCC, have you set goals for yourself. (Essay Question)
  • 10 points - What Makes You an Outstanding Scholarship Applicant: any additional information you would like us to know. (Essay Question)
  • 40 points - Academic Record: Include a copy of your most recent high school or college transcripts or GED test scores. You DO NOT need "Official Transcripts".

How to get started

Step 1

Fill out the application. Open up the application and type in all your answers and then print the application. You will also have the option to save your application after you have filled it out. 

Please try not to leave any question blank. The more information you give us the more likely you will meet the criteria of different scholarships.

Step 2

Write your Essay. The Essay is 4 questions and is worth a total of 45 out of 100 points. One to three paragraphs for each question. Be thorough and concise as the essay should be no longer than 1-2 pages in length.

Questions:

  1. Tell us about your community and school involvement.
  2. How you plan to finance your education?
  3. What are your educational and career goals?
  4. What makes you an outstanding scholarship applicant?

Step 3

Include your academic records. Make sure to include a a COPY of your most recent TRANSCRIPTS or GED Test Scores. You DO NOT need "official" transcripts. Call or visit your most recent school and ask them for a copy of your transcript.  It needs to be sent to you so you can include it with your application. DO NOT have them send it directly to the college as it should be submitted with your application.

Step 4

Complete and submit a FAFSA application (for Federal Financial Aid eligibility) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. DO NOT include your FAFSA form with your application just indicate your CONFIRMATION NUMBER in the space provided on the application.  FAFSA is required for all US citizens as all scholarships are disbursed through the Financial Aid Office. (If you are not a US citizen you may skip this step).

Step 5

Certification. Sign your application and make sure your name is included on each page.
